Last year, Pembrokeshire Fish Week attracted 30,000 visitors, many of whom travelled to the West Wales county especially for the event.

Pembrokeshire Fish Week won the Gold Award in the Food Tourism Destination category in the True Taste Food and Drink Awards 2009 and Pembrokeshire Tourism's 'Premier Event Award' 2009 / 2010.

The festival, which celebrates its 12th birthday this year, is organised by Pembrokeshire County Council.

"Pembrokeshire Fish Week is all about celebrating our delicious fish and shellfish but at the same time, it's more than just a foodie festival," said organiser Kate Morgan, Food Officer for Pembrokeshire County Council.

"It's all about making use of our wonderful assets like the Pembrokeshire coastline and rivers, and bringing those together with our fantastic local produce.

"Why not try an introduction to sea kayaking and fishing, and with a bit of luck, you'll be cooking fresh mackerel on a beach barbecue!

"Or take an evening river boat trip to explore the scenery and finish with a local fish supper back ashore."

As well as demonstrations and courses, food lovers can enjoy hundreds of mouthwatering opportunities to tuck into fresh, locally caught fish and shellfish.

Restaurants, pubs, cafes and bars have special menus throughout the week from seafood extravaganzas and fish tapas to freshly dressed local crab salads, and seafood chowders.

For outdoor-lovers, there are guided river kayak trips, eco-fishing adventures, angling competitions, windsurfing and sailing sessions and more.

Children can enjoy crab-catching, snorkel safaris, beach activity days, and seaside-themed art and craft sessions, while for music-lovers, there's jazz at Tenby Harbour, folk in Fishguard and a sea shanty night at Milford Haven.
